Helping keep Tybee Island visitors in line

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - A special meeting was held Wednesday with the Tybee City Council to discuss Tybee visitors.

Neighbors say visitors are getting out of hand on the many rental properties offered on Tybee.

Noise, parking, traffic and overcrowding in homes are all big problems little Tybee wants to correct without sacrificing the number of travelers passing through the shores.

"We don't want to reduce the number of people staying on Tybee by any means. We just want to find a way for them to live here without negatively impacting their neighbors," said Tybee Island Councilman Paul Wolff.

Tybee Island has several ordinances designed to keep parties under control, but nothing in the books about the amount of people staying in one rental property. Council would have to pass a new ordinance.

WTOC will let you know when they do.
