Once again, Honor Flight Savannah has made a very special visit possible for some very special veterans. Flight prices being what they are, this excited group of area World War II veterans took the train to Washington last Friday evening for a Saturday visit to several military sites there, but first and foremost, the one that has the most significance for them, and of which they can be the proudest, our nation's World War II Memorial. Although the weather in D.C. that day was brisk, the warm and grateful hearts of our vets quickly over-came the elements. While at their Memorial, these great freedom-preserving individuals were greeted by several General Officers, including the Third ID's magnificent leader, MG Tony Cucolo.
Our thanks to Honor Flight Savannah for making this long-awaited trip possible for these very special veterans. Honor Flight, by the way, is able to make these free-to-veterans trips possible only through donations from companies, organizations and area individuals. And our sincere thanks as well to our treasured World War II veterans who continue to be so deserving of our praise and admiration for all they so bravely did for all of us.
