SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Just desserts were served Thursday night for some of the people who made this year's United Way of the Coastal Empire's Campaign one of the best ever.
The Beacon Society honored those who helped the United Way raise over $8 million.
"The irony is that it keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. In spite of this economy, people still open up their wallet and give to people; which I think is one of the hallmarks of this community that we live in," said Paul Hinchey, President/CEO St. Joseph's-Candler.
The hospital also showed off plans for a new cyber-knife suite at the Nancy N. and JC Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion, which will help doctors fight cancer even better than before.
