Old, new celebrated at Ft. Stewart

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - The Twilight Tattoo was a celebration of the 3rd Infantry Division's storied history and salute to those who serve now with a look to the future.

Besides the music and marching, flags and flyovers, they brought 15 new recruits to the ceremony, excited to be part of the Marne division.

"Today got me pumped. I can't wait to leave next month for basic. It's a wonderful experience," said recruit Whitney Harris.

"It's kind of different for me but my whole family is in the Army. I've never been to one before but it's really great," said recruit Sadivia Wilson.

They also honored soldiers who just re-enlisted.

It was also a bittersweet note to the Tattoo Thursday, it was Major General Tony Cucolo's last with the 3rd ID.

They'll change command at Fort Stewart on Friday.
