Student theater group to perform 'Night of January 16th'

The Savannah Arts Academy's Theatre Department is putting on a production of Ayn Rand's courtroom drama "Night of January16th".

Theatre Department Chair Andrea Verdis is directing the spring production. "Night of January 16th" is a drama in which the jury is selected from the audience at each performance. The jury's verdict determines the ending of the play, according to a news release.

"Night of January 16th" runs from April 28 to 30 and showtimes are 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m. Dinner and the show will be offered on Friday and Saturday with designated seating at 6 p.m.

Dinner Theatre tickets are $25 and must be reserved by April 26. General admission tickets are $10. Students and senior citizens are $6. Reserve tickets by calling 912.395.1000 ext. 722004 or by stopping by the Savannah Arts Academy daytime box office from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Proceeds benefit the theatre department's productions, conferences and scholarship fund. Portions of the proceeds will be used to sponsor a group of students who will be attending the American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, in August.
