Groups are partnering together for a cleanup of the Carver Heights neighborhood on Tuesday.
The effort is part of the Great Savannah Cleanup. It runs from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday. An estimated 100 volunteers who are slated to clean vacant lots, paint homes, and beautify the neighborhood so that it is healthier and safer.
Illegal dumping is a major problem in the 1st and 5th districts, according to the city.
Groups participating include the city of Savannah, Keep Savannah Beautiful, Volunteer Savannah, The Westin's Big Give and Hands on Savannah of United Way, the Westin's Big Give, Volunteer Savannah, partners through Hands on Savannah, Dumas Charities, Coastal Correctional Institute, Carver Heights Neighborhood Association, residents, fraternities, Jackson Brothers, Sheppard Brothers, The Savannah Realtists, and other business and property owners in the area.
