Suspects Arrested in Deadly Purse Snatching

There's been a major break in a deadly Savannah purse snatching case. In January, 79-year-old Sarah Price was walking to her car at the Piggly Wiggly on Skidaway Road in Sandfly. Someone in a pickup truck drove by and grabbed her purse, knocking her to the ground. She died a few days later at Saint Joseph's hospital.

Yesterday, Chatham County police arrested 22-year-old Jermaine Wright and 22-year-old Arken Hunter, both of Savannah, in connection with the case. Hunter was already in jail on unrelated charges.

Police say news of the arrests was a relief to the Price family. "For the Price family, at least there's some type of resolution for them, knowing that we were able to apprehend those responsible for their mother's death," said Capt. Bob Merriman of the Chatham County Police Department.

Both Wright and Hunter are facing murder and robbery by sudden snatching charges. They will both be arraigned today in recorder's court. We'll let you know what happens.
