City Council previews Rock 'n' Roll Marathon route

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The big buzz around town is the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. While the course has not yet been officially announced, Savannah City Council members got a sneak peak on Thursday.

Convention and Visitors Bureau President Joe Marinelli, the Greater Savannah Sports Council along with members of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon presented the proposed route that will start in front of City Hall on Bull street, wind through the city and end at Forsyth Park. already 4,000 runners are signed up for either the half or full marathon. They expect up to 15,000 people to run, 30 to 50 local bands to perform and nearly 3,000 volunteers to participate.

"I have been speaking the good gospel about the Savannah Rock 'n' Roll Marathon across the country," said Event Director Malain McCormick. "I have to say everyone is so very excited to come from around the country and visit this fair city."

Fleet Feet is hosting a Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and half course announcement and event kick off party on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
