AASU group holds national debt rally

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Young Americans for Liberty, a student organization at Armstrong Atlantic State University,  hosted a national debt rally Monday.

The group displayed a 40-foot National Debt Clock at the student union on Aptil 25 at noon on campus and petitioned John Barrow, Jack Kingston, Saxby Chambliss, and Johnny Isakson to address the $14 trillion national debt, according to AASU. The rally runs from 12 to 2 p.m.

"If you think about it, every generation grows up thinking this is the way something has always been, but if you look back gas used to be really, really, really cheap. Sometimes we don't talk about things like that, and I'm trying to bring awareness to that as best I can," said Gabriel Aquino of Young Americans for Liberty.

The event is part of a nationwide "Visualize the Debt" project by Young Americans for Liberty with more than 75 college campuses participating.
