VIDALIA, GA (WTOC) - The Vidalia Onion Festival stepped off Thursday with the annual Children's Parade.
Dozens of youngsters dressed up for the theme, uptown in downtown, as they walked through several blocks of Vidalia.
Organizers said the parade helps include a younger generation as well as the city's renewed downtown.
"It is always good to be the event that kicks off the festival, but especially to do it downtown," said Paula Toole, parade chair.
The parade finished up at the Meadows Street Park where organizers and sponsors handed out awards for costumes in each age group.
