Man arrested for fatal DUI crash

A Hardeeville man was arrested late Thursday morning on two counts of felony driving under the influence.

At about 6:45 p.m. April 23, Shane Harper was driving a red 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS on Old Palmetto Bluff Road with three passengers, according to Bluffton police.

Harper lost control of the vehicle and hit several trees, and the vehicle came to rest in a ditch in the wood line off the roadway.

A passenger, Devin Roach was killed and another passenger Robert Marshall was seriously injured.

Bluffton police said that Harper was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested at his home without incident and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
