Getting prepared for the upcoming hurricane season

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Members of the National Hurricane Center took to the tarmac Thursday, holding a Hurricane Awareness Tour at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.

It was the first time they've flown into town and it was all to get people thinking about the months ahead.

"If you're prepared for the worst possible hurricane that you can expect here, then you're prepared for anything else that can happen. So let's do it. Be prepared. Be ready," said Bill Read, Director at The National Hurricane Center.

Best of all, some five hundred students from schools around the area came in, learned a lot and even toured Kermit the plane.
