SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - More than 500 of Savannah's senior citizens will show off their best dance moves Thursday as part of the city of Savannah's Older Americans Luncheon.
Seniors from several of the Golden Age Centers will demonstrate to the crowd how to perform different dances, such as the Bump, the Macarena, and the Mississippi Cha-Cha.
The luncheon is for program participants and takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Savannah Civic Center.
The annual event focuses on the unique contributions that senior citizens make to the community, according to the city of Savannah. May is national Older Americans Month.
Older Americans Luncheon guests are participants in the City of Savannah's 12 Golden Age Centers. The centers provide recreation and craft activities, guest speakers and field trips for self-sufficient Savannah citizens over the age of 60.
The centers serve more than 80,000 lunches a year, according to the city.
