Officials and special guests are dedicating the new Mitsubishi Power plant in Pooler.
The facility has been a work in progress for two years now. On Wednesday, part of the plant will be officially open for business.
Among the attendees are former Gov. Sonny Perdue, Lt. Gov Casey Cagle, Mitsubishi President of Heavy industries Hideaki Omiya and president of Mitsubishi Americas Koji Hasegawa.
Only part of the plant is open, but when complete, Mitsubishi expects to invest an estimated $350 million in the Pooler plant.
That will create at least 500 new jobs. Several other officials will also be speaking at the event on the importance of the plant.
