Beach Bum parade faces funding issues

Funding could be a problem for the Beach Bum parade on Tybee Island.

The water-filled parade is this Friday but organizers of the event say registration is down, and need to raise about $5,500 to cover costs.

This year, the event is being held on what is known as the last local's weekend before the rush of tourists on Memorial Day weekend.

The registration fee was raised this year to about $55 to cover the city's requirements of increased security and safety measures, including barricades and 28 officers.

Organizers hope there will be many last-minute registrations to cover the cost.
