Honored for keeping our streets safe

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Southside Optimist Club held lunch and honored several law enforcement officers for its annual Officer of the Year program.

Pictured from left to right is Chatham County Sheriff Deputy Madeline Pickney, Corporal Johhny Webb with the Sherrif's Office and Savannah Chatham Metro's Police Sergeant Torrance Garvin Senior.

Agent Donald Wood was named Chatham County Narcotics Team Officer of the Year. One winner says it's the people behind him that made the award possible.

"I'm very honored to receive this recognition, and I am going to continue to do the best job that I can... a lot of hard work, a lot of determination, but mostly hard work was actually what paid it off; and good leadership from my superiors that brought me up through the ranks," said Webb.

Also honored but not able to attend was Savannah Chatham Metro Detective, Josh Hunt for Officer of the Year.
