BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - Two fawns were saved by a deputy sheriff and crew members Engine 325 of the Bluffton Township Fire District after a doe had been hit by a vehicle early Thursday morning.
At about 2:30 a.m. shift 2 members from Engine 325 were dispatched to an accident between a female deer, according to Capt. Randy Hunter, the assistant training officer and public information officer with the Bluffton Township Fire District.
The doe was pregnant, split open and two fawns that had come out and were alive and trying stand.
The deputy sheriff contacted a veterinarian to help the two fawns.
The crew from Engine 325 remained at the scene to protect the baby fawns for about 30 minutes until the staff from Dr. Parker's office arrived.
Hunter said it was the fourth case the doctor's office has handled.
