SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Members of the Bonaventure Daughters of the American Revolution honored past members by placing an American flag on their graves today. The flags were donated to the organization by Legion 135.
At Bonaventure Cemetery there are 70 ladies who belonged to the daughters of the American, all being remembered for their contributions.
"We did not meet any of these former members, but we've heard stories about how they would clean tombstones, they would plant flowers. We even heard a story about how sometimes they would take their scissors and trim weeds because they didn't want anything like that to take away from the beauty of a grave," said Betty Schwarz, Co-Chair of Bonaventure D.A.R.
For those who think they may have a relative who's an American Revolution war soldier, the Bonaventure Daughters of the American Revolution is asking you to get in touch with them.
