Growers suffer record loses after wildfires and tornadoes

LONG CO., GA (WTOC) - In March, more than 4,000 acres in Long County burned during a fast moving fire.

Officials are saying the timber industry is taking a big hit.

The Georgia Forestry Commission says growers are suffering record losses after those wildfires and the tornadoes in April.

It has cost landowners nearly $88 million.

The commission says the amount is the worst ever recorded in a single year in Georgia.
