Golf tournament held to honor wounded soldiers

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - The Wounded Warrior Foundation of the Lowcountry hosted its inaugural golf tournament Monday at Hampton Hall Club in Bluffton, to honor 15 wounded soldiers from Fort Stewart.

Music from the Third ID Band and a parachute jump onto the ninth fairway kicked off the tournament. Organizers were thrilled with the entertainment and turnout.

"Well the turnout was so strong, support from the community, that we ended up actually double-teeing every hole so that we had 36 foursomes and we had to turn some of them away. Really a strong desire here in the community to give back" said Tournament Co-Chair Jim Miller.

All of the donations will go to the Wounded Warrior Project through the PGA's Birdies for the Brave program to assist wounded veterans.
