City to launch new crackdown on illegal dumping

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah City Council members and property maintenance and sanitation officials on Wednesday will outline an expanded initiative to crackdown on illegal dumping.

The news conference takes place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Floyd "Pressboy" Adams Park at West 32nd Street.

CrimeStoppers is now joining the city to fight blight by offering rewards for information that leads to prosecution of illegal dumpers.

The city has had recent success in prosecuting illegal tire dumpers under city ordinance and is pursuing increased enforcement options with the state of Georgia Environmental Protection Division, according to the city.
