Carol Bell, a former Central Services director for the city of Savannah, officially announced her campaign for the office of Alderman at Large Post 1 on Tuesday at Johnson Square.
"I worked for city government as a civil servant for 38 years and I love this community. I love the people. I believe to who much is given much is required. I have been afforded an opportunity to gain some expertise in the interworkings of city government so I feel this as just another level of service," Bell said.
If elected, Bell will fill the seat of Alderman Edna Jackson, who is running for mayor. Election Day in Savannah is Nov. 8. The mayor and all eight aldermen are up for election.
