Tennessee students roller skate on Tybee

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - A group of Tennessee students enjoyed all that Tybee has to offer Thursday after a generous donation from the YMCA.

Pittsburg High students went roller skating at the Tybee "Y" Thursday afternoon. The group wasn't even supposed to be here after they used the money they had raised for their trip to help Alabama storm victims, but when one of the board of directors here found out about their good deeds, he worked hard and got these young people the vacation they deserved.

"We said that we would love to give them a trip to Tybee because we believe that when you give with out wanting, you receive with out knowing." said Tybee YMCA Program Director Haley Hill.

South Pittsburgh High student Tylor Smith said "A mother had lost her son, and she didn't know about it because she was in a coma, and we thought that they need it (the money) more than we did."

Some of the teens have never been to the beach, so Thursday night they will get to enjoy some delicious seafood at The Crab Shack. Tybee Mayor Jason Buelterman is planning to present them with a proclamation at dinner.
