"Thunderbolts" Fighter Squadron Honored

Marines served bravely in Iraq, and one group of Marines from the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort are being honored. Personnel with Fighter Attack Squadron 251 were awarded medals and certificates for their roles in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Thunderbolts were based at an airbase in Kuwait and flew missions in Iraq of which they're duly proud.

"It's a pleasure to give out awards like this," said commanding officer Lt. Col. Thomas Clark. "It's a challenging position, but one of the fun things we get to do is recognize our Marines and sailors for their exceptional service, and that's what we got to do today."

The thunderbolts also served in Operation Enduring Freedom, rooting out terrorists after the attacks on America in September of 2001.
