CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - The Chatham County Sheriff's Office deputies began delivering 54 sex offender binders to Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Campus Police.
The photos were delivered Wednesday morning to the board of education building at 208 Bull St.
For the past several months, the Sex Offender Registration and Tracking Unit has been putting together binders of the nearly 400 sex offenders living in Chatham County, according to the sheriff's office.
This week, deputies will start delivering the 110 binders to the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, private schools, local colleges, public libraries, police stations and city halls in Chatham County, according to the sheriff's office. Updates will be e-mailed daily.
The state of Georgia now requires every sheriff's office to provide printed photographs of every sex offender to all schools, libraries, police stations and public buildings.
