Abused puppy recovering

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Four-legged friends need love too.

Diane Abolt, of the Savannah-Chatham Animal Control Office, said someone hit the puppy over the head and then dumped him in a yard.

He almost died, but received a blood transfusion and is in good health. He'll be one of many at animal control - that needs a good home.

"We have 116 kennels in the shelter, and we have about 138 dogs a day. So we have a lot of dogs that are left, and abandoned," Abolt said.

The shelter's open seven days a week from 1 until 5 p.m. It's located off of Sallie Mood Drive.
