LONG CO., GA (WTOC) - Officials with the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture are scheduled to be at a Long County farm, where 18 horses were left for dead at a boarding facility.
Long County sheriff's deputies discovered the horses Sunday after getting a tip. The farm is off of Stafford Dairy Road.
Deputies say the horses were in horrible condition and had not been fed for awhile. They are feeding and watering the horses.
They're not sure all 18 horses will make it.
The department of agriculture will decide whether or not to seize the horses. Deputies say they know who the owner of the boarding facility is, but are not identifying him. They say he lives in Florida.
Deputies are waiting to get a warrant to bring him back to Long County to face charges.
