LONG CO., GA (WTOC) - A woman charged with animal cruelty stood before a Long County magistrate judge Monday morning.

Christiane Judd was officially informed of the charges against her. The judge also made arrangements for her to have a public defender. She will be held in the Brantley County Jail until her next hearing.

"She was advised of the charges against her, advised of her legal rights and her bond was denied," said Det. Tom Sollosi of the Long Co. Sheriff's Office.

Judd was captured last month while trying to cross into Canada. She's accused of neglecting animals and allowing them to die while operating the Loonie Farms shelter.

Bones of animals were found on the property in May.
