TOOMBS CO., GA (WTOC) - Toombs County residents are mourning a slain teenager.
The community has hung white bows and ribbons in memory of Courtney Wilkes. The 15 year old was vacationing with family last week in Florida when she was murdered. Vidalia and Lyons residents are hanging the ribbons as a sign of support to her family before the funeral on Wednesday.
"We love them and we're praying for them. They are in our prayers that god can give them peace to deal with this situation," said Sallie Hooks, of Vidalia.
Bond was denied for her suspected killer Steven Cozzie. He's in a Florida jail and will be back in court next month.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Vidalia.
