CNT to honor Thomas Sprague with building dedication

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Chatham County Commission and the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team will be hosting a dedication ceremony Thursday morning in honor of Thomas C. Sprague.

The ceremony will announce the dedication of the Counter Narcotics Team building as the Thomas C. Sprague Complex. The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Thomas C. Sprague Complex at 71 Ross Rd.

Thomas C. Sprague, Chatham County Manager Russ Abolt, Chatham County Chairman Pete Liakakis, Chatham County Commission, CNT Director Everette Ragan, SCMPD Police Chief Willie Lovett, Father Patrick O'Brien will be attending the ceremony.

Sprague's career in law enforcement spanned six different decades and included tours of duty with two U.S. Justice Department agencies, one U.S. Treasury Department agency and two local police agencies, according to the CNT.

Sprague became the first commander of the new drug enforcement program, called the Counter Narcotics Team.

He left CNT in 1996 to become chief of police of the Chatham County Police Dept. and helped to spearhead the merger of the community's two largest police departments.
