Editorial Salute - 06/23/2011

The area military unit command changes continue.  Last week, Third ID Combat Aviation Brigade Commander, Colonel Don Galli relinquished his two-year command, following a successful brigade tour in Afghanistan.  Colonel Galli, wife Patti and family, now move to a top position at Fort Rucker, Alabama.  Wishing The Galli Family well, we now welcome Colonel Allan Pepin as Commander of the 3rd CAB.  Colonel Pepin transitions to Hunter following command of the 1/160th Night Stalkers at Fort Campbell.  We welcome the Colonel, wife Heather and family to our great coastal region.

Next, Lieutenant-Colonel Kirk Keepers leaves his two-year command of the 3/160th Night Stalkers at Hunter to assume a key position at the Pentagon. To Colonel Keepers, wife Cindy and family, we wish you all the very best in your new assignment.  Stepping into Night Stalker command at Hunter, Lieutenant-Colonel Bill Golden.  With three combat deployments to his credit, and previous tours with the Night Stalkers at Fort Campbell, we welcome Colonel Golden, wife Carey and family to 3/160th command.

And a welcome, as well, to Brigadier-General Loretta Reynolds, the incoming commander at Parris Island.  The first woman to lead this important Marine Corps installation, General Reynolds takes over for Brigadier-General Frederick Padilla who moves on to lead the Third Marine Division in Japan.  Our congratulations and best wishes to all of our new area commanders and their families.
