Online voting begins for new Ga. license plate

ATLANTA (AP) - Online voting has begun to choose Georgia's new license plate. More than 500 entries were submitted by the public to design Georgia's next standard issue license plate which is set to be produced next year.

A panel of Georgia college and university art professors participated in narrowing the selection to eight designs. Online voting ends July 8 and the three license plates that win the most votes will be presented to Gov. Nathan Deal, who will announce the winning design on July 15.

State Revenue Commissioner Doug MacGinnitie encouraged Georgians to "vote for their favorite design that best represents the state of Georgia."
