Soldier charged with taking grill

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A 23-year-old Fort Stewart soldier has been charged in connection with theft of a barbecue grill.

Wesley Allen Cartee was arrested Sunday. He was charged with possession of tools for commission of a crime, possession of drug-related objects; criminal trespass, and two counts of theft by taking.

A man saw someone driving on Chevis Road pulling a smoker grill he had stored on Wild Heron Road. Police stopped the vehicle pulling the smoker and arrested Cartee, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police. There were also reports of two boats recently stolen from the same property.

Cartee admitted taking the boats, one of which was found at his residence and the other in a wooded area off of New Hamstead Drive without its trailer, according to police. Police are still trying to locate the trailer.

West Chatham Precinct detectives determined that Cartee had been pawning power tools and jewelry taken from his own family members to support his addiction to pills, according to police.
