Group to take over fighting Honey Prairie fire

CHARLTON CO., GA (WTOC) - The massive Honey Prairie fire is still growing.

The wildfire, which is in and near the Okefenokee Swamp, now covers almost 287,000 that's up 3,000 acres over the last two days. A new management team is taking over called the Northeast Compact Incident Management Team.

It's an interagency group with members from the U.S. and Canada.

The Sweat Farm Again Fire is 70 percent contained at 19,169 acres. The race pond fire is 69 percent contained at 20,934 acres.
