Gnats win 9th straight, sweep Augusta

Augusta, GA – The second-half offensive woes continued for the Augusta GreenJackets in a 7-1 loss to the Savannah Sand Gnats in front of 4,325 fans at Lake Olmstead Stadium on Sunday night.

The Sand Gnats earned their second three-game sweep over the GreenJackets this season with the win and the Gnats are now 12-2 this season against the GreenJackets.

Justin Schumer was roughed up early and often – victimized by four GreenJackets defensive errors within the game's first three innings.

Schumer (3-4) allowed seven runs, but just two earned, in his shortest start of the year. He fired 1.2 innings and allowed four hits while walking four and striking out two in his second straight loss.

Angel Cuan was solid for Savannah in his six inning stint, retiring 12 of the first 13 hitters he faced.

The lone run he surrendered came in the sixth when Adam Duvall's sacrifice fly put the GreenJackets on the board.
