Effingham Co. health department extends hours

EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

The lazy days of summer are coming to an end. Children are preparing to head back to school. For some, it's time for shots.

The Effingham County Health Department is extending its hours until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

"We have eradicated polio in the past. We have very few cases of chicken pox these days. So it reduces time out of school and keeps everybody healthy," said Cindy Grovenstein, the Effingham County nurse manager.

In addition to immunizations, the health department is also providing hearing, vision, and dental screenings. There is a charge for all services.

The next day for the center's extended hours will be July 26.
