Full Force Sworn In

The first phase of the Savannah-Chatham County police merger is now complete. As of this afternoon, all 577 officers have been sworn in to the newly formed Savannah-Chatham Police Department. Police now have the authority to enforce both city and county ordinances.

They'll continue to patrol their current precincts until new ones are established, but police say officers are now free to respond to incidents outside their district limits. Police are still working to set up a new 911 center as well as a new logo and uniforms for officers.
