2 shot in Brunswick

A man has been charged in connection with a shooting.

Brunswick police officers were dispatched at about 8:36 p.m. Monday to the 1700 block of Albany Street on a report of a fight in progress.

A black male at the intersection of Albany Street and K Street had been shot. He told officers that he was standing in the parking lot of McIntyre Court Public Housing area, when he heard what sounded like gunshots. 

He was shot in the groin area by one of the discharged rounds. He was transported by a Medical Squad to the Southeast Georgia Medical Center, (Brunswick Campus) for treatment. His injury does not appear to be life-threatening.

While officers were interviewing the victim at the hospital, a second victim, also a black male arrived at the emergency room with a superficial gunshot wound to his head area, according to Brunswick police. That person told officers that he had been standing in the middle of the basketball court, of the McIntyre Court Public Housing Complex when he was shot.

Investigators determined that the two shootings were related and stemmed from an argument; however the victims may not have been the intended targets, according to a news release.

Gregory Baldwin, 19, was identified as the shooter and taken into police custody, according to police.

Baldwin was charged with one count of aggravated assault and transported to the Glynn County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
