Organizers aim high with Dancing with Savannah Stars

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The secret is out! Don Logana is ready for his big night - Dancing with Savannah Stars to help the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program.

Don Logana has four months to get in dancing shape. His dance partner is Courtney Byers and dance guru Mack Mckenzie is working with them.

Logana is one of 12 contestants who will compete in the fund-raiser, which is the most they have had.

Dancing with Savannah Stars is in its fourth year.

"Every day, we have children that are part of the child welfare system, due to some type of abuse or neglect. And They're the forgotten voice, no one remembers them in court proceedings. You have an attorney there for the parents, you have an attorney there representing the state, but no one is there for that child. So we train, we recruit, and we retain volunteers to make sure that child's voice is heard," said Zadonna Slay, of Dancing with Savannah Stars.

They usually raise about $50,000 each year, but they hope to double that amount this year.
