WALTON CO., FL (WTOC) -

A man accused in the slaying of a Toombs County teen could face the death penalty.

Steven Cozzie is charged with first-degree murder, sexual battery, aggravated child abuse and armed kidnapping.

Police say he strangled 15-year-old Courtney Wilkes while she was on vacation with her family in the Seagrove area of Florida.

Florida State Attorney Bill Eddins announced that he's seeking the death penalty for Cozzie, who is expected in court in late September.
