Tropical UPDATE 10pm Aug 20th

Glad I got the chance to go out with the wife tonight.

No chance I will get to do that next Saturday night, if this works out!

HARVEY is diminishing fast, never made it to a hurricane.

Made landfall near Dangriga, Belize about 1335.

So we set the record for the most storms without a hurricane to start a hurricane season.

That's eight.

IRENE was named at 2000 this evening.

She is a Tropical Storm, 190 mi E of Dominica, and 215 ESE of Guadeloupe.

She has MAX winds @ 50 mph, and is moving west rather quickly @ 22 mph, pressure 1006 mb.

Tropical storms warnings are now up for all the islands.

And a hurricane watch is up for the Dominican Republic.

The official forecast makes IRENE a hurricane briefly Monday afternoon.

Now we will get all the models going on this storm.

So far all bring her into South Florida by Thursday afternoon as a Tropical Storm.

The "consensus" is that she will travel either the length of the Florida Peninsula, or up the Gulf side to the north.

We will await a complete dataset by 0800 Sunday.

Here we go!
