SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A Savannah Technical College alum was recently one of two Georgia students to travel to Australia to participate in the International Scholar Laureate Program as a member of the Australian delegation on business.
Lahoma Patton attended the program, which aims to educate and motivate students to reach higher and achiever more in life. The program combines career-focused site visits with unique cultural exchanges, topical lectures and discussions with host nation students and professors to renew each student's drive for success.
Participants met with business leaders in fields from economics to healthcare, attended a meeting at the Melbourne Business School and met with business owners around Sydney.
"This experience was unforgettable", said Patton in a press release. "It was very rewarding to see firsthand that the education I received at Savannah Technical College prepared me to compete with graduates from more prestigious colleges and universities."
Patton received the invitation because of her membership in STC's Beta Xi Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society of the two-year college.
Patton graduated this May from STC and holds an associate degree in management and supervisory development and a human resource certificate.
