The Chatham County Aquatic Center, with its "bubble" dome, stands by itself in the Coastal Empire as a state-of-the-art swimming complex. The 50,000 square foot facility features two pools: one Olympic-size pool, an 8 lane x 50 meter pool, which can be set up width-wise as 18 lanes of short course (25 yards), and one therapeutic size pool, a shallow 6 lane x 25 yard course. It also includes a youth pool, which is used for special classes and activities. The Olympic pool's depth is a continuous 7.5 to 9 feet and is kept at 80-82 degrees year-round while the second pool is maintained at approximately 85 degrees. The complex also contains a snack bar, multi-purpose restrooms, a pro shop, offices, Nautilus weight equipment, bleachers, and more than adequate parking facilities.

Programs for Everyone at the Aquatic Center
Starfish Swim School:
Classes for 3 years to Adults cost $50.00 for 8 lessons. Discounts are available to members, renewals, and additional children. Private swim lessons are available.
WaterBabies: (Ages 6 months – 36 months)
The purpose of this course is to develop in very young children a high comfort level in the water while at the same time training parents in water safety and drowning prevention. This course does not teach children to become accomplished swimmers or survive in the water; it does provide confidence building, fun, love experiences. One parent or trusted caregiver must be in the water with each child. Swim Diapers are required. Cost = $25.00
SeaSprites: (Ages 3 – 5 years)
Designed to meet the needs of pre-schoolers, this class will develop a high comfort in the water, a readiness to swim, and for those children who are developmentally ready, teach beginning swim skills. Approaches teaching skills through creative, fun activities in the water.
SeaStars: (Ages 6 – 8 years)
SeaStars combines swimming and adventure learning activities to provide an exciting and unique curriculum. Children progress at individual rates with the opportunity to learn core swimming skills and progress to advanced strokes. 5 year olds must be Level Yellow or above to enroll in SeaStars.
SwimStars: (Ages 9 & Older)
Swimmers progress through exciting skill modules that combine core swimming skills, water safety, water sports and adventure learning activities. Learning is self-paced but challenging.
StrokeStars: (Any age that meets skill prerequisite)
Swimmers refine freestyle and learn stroke techniques for backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and more!
Starfish Swim Team: (Any age that meets skill prerequisite)
Swimmers learn and refine the competitive strokes plus develop an understanding of basic training principles such as using a pace clock, starts and turns, racing. This program is a great introduction to competitive swimming in a
low-key environment. Cost = $50.00
The AngelFish program is designed to meet the needs of your special needs child. These classes are taught along the same philosophy as the Starfish Swim School. The classes will provide necessary teaching adaptations and or adaptive equipment that may be required to make your child as independent and successful in the water as possible. Currently classes are held for children between the ages of 3 and 12. Private lessons are available for children and adults of all ages.
Savannah Sprint Training:
The main focus of the group is to properly prepare athletes for meet specific training with emphasis on spring training. The program is directed toward high school swimmers; however, it is not required that you swim for high school. The program is for ages 12 and older. Along with swimming fast, athletes learn how to properly execute starts and turns, which are crucial to sprinting.
H2X Water Aerobics
Arthritis Therapy: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00 am
Approved by the arthritis foundation, this 45 minute warm water exercise program concentrates on flexibility, mobility, and joint range of motion. Classes are held in a shallow, 85 – 87 degree pool.
H2O Body Sculpt: Monday at 10:00 am; Tuesday & Thursday at 9:00 am
This 45 minute, shallow water class for every age and fitness level offers 25 minutes of heart friendly cardio exercise plus muscular endurance moves each session. Buoyant or drag equipment adds resistance during power and strength moves.
Deep Water Running: Wednesday & Friday at 10:00 am
This is an excellent thirty minute cross training class for runners and cyclists. It is a perfect class for burning lots of calories in minimal amount of time.
Senior AquaTone: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:00 am
A total body, low impact fitness, class for the 55+ enthusiastics. This 45 minute program includes warm up, stretching, range of motion exercises, toning, cardiovascular conditioning, and cool down. Senior AquaTone is the righter choice for the young at heart.
Deep Water Aerobics: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 6:00 pm
This class is fun, simple, and easy on the body, yet challenging. It improves balance, flexibility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular conditioning. Participants must be comfortable in deep cooler water.
Shallow Water Aerobics: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 7:00 pm
Get your heart rate up, tone your muscles, and improve your flexibility all with very little impact. Instruction is given in the shallow pool in chest deep water.

PLUS, More Group Activities
Fun & Fitness for Homeschoolers:
(Ages 6 and older) The Fun & Fitness for Homeschoolers is designed to be taught in eight 1-hour sessions. Sessions are held once a week for eight consecutive weeks. Each week homeschoolers are introduced to various activities that occur around the pool: water safety, swimming instruction/development, fitness swimming, water aerobics, triathlon orientation, pool games, snorkeling, and kayaking.
Fun & Fitness Field Trips:
(Grades K thru 5) The Fun & Fitness Field Trip is designed to be offered in one 2 ½ -hour session. Sessions are offered to local schools at various times during the school year. Teachers must be present at all times. Class sizes may vary between 6 and 30 students.
Depending upon class size, students may be divided up into groups and rotate through activities or complete activities as follows: 40 minutes of water safety; 40 minutes of swimming instruction/development; 10 minute break; 40 minutes of snorkeling, kayaking, or pool games; 15 minutes of free swim, 5 minute overview of the day.
Holiday Sports Afloat:
(Ages 6 and older) Holiday Sports Afloat consists of three hours of supervised aquatic activities. Parents or caregivers are not required to be present. The three hour session consists of a 10 minute tour of facility and overview of pool rules; 30 minutes of water safety drills; 30 minutes of swimming instruction/development; 30 minute break for light snack, lunch, or video; 45 minutes of kayaking, snorkeling, or pool games; 30 minute free swim; 5 minute overview of the day. The Holiday Sports Afloat during Christmas/Hanukah is a great opportunity for parents to drop their children off at the pool. The three hours allows parents more time for shopping.
Tables and chairs are provided for up to 30 guests. Charges include a deposit and daily admission for all swimming guests. Parties are offered Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and Saturdays from either 12:00 – 2:00 pm or 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
The CCAC also rents lanes to local swim teams, scout troops, military, etc… Area swim teams have hosted many meets, clinics, and even triathlons.
