Pooler man in surgery after motorcycle travels 80 feet

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A Pooler man was rushed into surgery Sunday morning after he lost control of his motorcycle hitting a metal utility pole causing the bike to travel 80 feet into a pine thicket, accoding to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.

Cody Benjamin Penifield, 21, of Moore Avenue was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The accident occurred at Jimmy DeLoach and Crossroads parkways.

He was riding his Suzuki GSXR 750 east on Jimmy DeLoach at a high rate of speed when he lost control, skidded around 200 feet and hit the pole.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating the accident, which took place around 8:15 a.m.
