SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Police said that at about 3 p.m., a man was sitting on his porch at East 50th Street and that someone drove up, shot him and then drove off. The man was unable to move his legs after being shot and was rushed to Memorial University Medical Center, where he immediately went into surgery.

Another shooting occurred near Sunset Park at about the same time as the other shooting, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police. Officials say the shooting was not related any of the schools. Johnson High School, Thunderbolt Elementary and Myers Middle School were on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

Campus police sent notifications of the lockdown at 2:50 p.m. The lockdown lifted at 3:05 p.m. based on updated information from the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.
