TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - An outdoor display of frames on Tybee Island is memorializing those firefighters and first responders who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001.
The Tybee Island Fire Department wanted to do something to honor them. They contacted the New York City Fire Department and purchased these frames with the names of the 343 firefighters and first responders who were killed.
The frames will be on display at 5th Street and Butler Avenue at the Veterans' Memorial until Sept. 14.
The money will go to the Bravest Scholarship Fund to help children who lost parents on that fateful day.
"We just wanted to show that we haven't forgotten," said Jimmy Carter, the organizer.
