Garden City Police Accreditation

Garden City Police received a speical honor in Colorado Springs, Colorado this past Saturday.

Chief David Lyons and Officer Jim Griner were on hand as the Commission for Accreditation Law Enforcement Agency, or CALEA, certified the Garden City Poice Department.  This makes them one of less than 40 police departments in the state of Georgia to receive such an honor.

Chief Lyons stated that, "we were commended on the fact that we achieved this in fifteen months, where it usually takes 3 or 4 years."

It cost more than $20,000 to obtain national accreditation, but now the department is eligible for reductions in liability insurance rates.  This will result in thousands of dollars in saving.
