Statesboro police commander to retire

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Statesboro police will be holding a ceremony this week to mark the retirement of Cmdr. JR Holloway's retirement from the Statesboro Police Department after 31 years of service.

A reception will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Jones-Love Cultural Center building in the Luella Moore Park at 121 Martin Luther King Drive.

Holloway is the first black police commander for the department.

Holloway has received several awards and recognitions and has attained some prestigious training through the FBI National Academy program, the Georgia Chiefs of Police Command College professional management program, and GACP Chief's training, according to the police department.
