Bluffton family hit with home invasion

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

A family was held at gunpoint during an early-morning robbery at their Bluffton apartment, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded just after 1 a.m. Monday to the Simmons Cay Apartments at 57 Simmonsville Rd. on a report of a burglary. A 23-year-old man told deputies that two men had just entered his apartment and robbed him and his family at gunpoint.

The man said that he and his family were asleep when they were awakened by the front door being kicked in. The two suspects entered the victim's bedroom, carrying a handgun, and demanded money, according to the sheriff's office.

They took the victim's wallet, ransacked the other bedrooms of the apartment and ran from the scene. No injuries were reported.

The suspects were described as white males with black hair. One suspect was described as approximately 6 feet tall with a long-sleeve white T-shirt, camouflage pants, and a white mask covering the lower part of his face. The other suspect was about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing a black T-shirt over a long-sleeve white shirt, dark pants, and a white mask on the lower part of his face.
