Taxi driver robbed on Hilton Head

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating the early-morning armed robbery of a taxi driver on the northern end of Hilton Head.

Deputies responded just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to Dillon Road on a report of an armed robbery. A 32-year-old taxi driver for Diamond Transportation told deputies that was robbed at gunpoint.

The cab was flagged down in the area of 50 Dillon Road. The cab driver pulled over on the notion that the man needed a taxi. The robbery suspect showed a handgun and demanded money.  The driver handed the robber his wallet and his cab revenue.

The driver was unharmed and had no fares in the vehicle at the time. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 25 and 30 years old. He was wearing a white polo shirt with small blue stripes and blue jeans. The suspect had a shaved head, a clean shaven face, and a pierced left ear.
